My grandson really liked the rattle but the instructions say wash before use and thats what I did. The rattle got water in the black and white swirl side. Sent it back and received a new one and the same happened to the new one. The toy itself is really well made and like I said my grandson really liked it. If I were to ever get one again I would wipe it clean and not submerge it in water (even for a brief time)

I thought my baby will like phone rattle. she played for some time with it when she was 3 months old. Do not wash it in water becoz water gets collected inside. just surface clean.

My two-year old loves this toy! I mix up all the pieces and put them on the wrong posts and she takes great delight in putting them all back where they're supposed to go. This set is great for teaching/reinforcing colors, shapes and numbers. It's made out of sturdy wood like all the Melissa and Doug products and the pieces are easy for little hands to take off and put on.
I had reservations about ordering this because another reviewer had mentioned that the pentagons were tagged with the number 4 and the squares were tagged with the number 5. However, I ordered it anyway and was pleasantly surprised to find that they have apparently rearranged the shapes to fix this problem. On the set I received there is one circle for #1, two rectangles for #2, three triangles for #3, four squares for #4, and five pentagons for #5.
My only regret is that I didn't get this sooner. It's recommended for 2 years and up but I think with supervision it could be introduced... Read more

I love this toy!
We bought this for our first son about two years ago when he was around 16 months. It is still out regularly as we have a second son that is about 18 months. We have not had any issues with durability despite heavy use from two boys on hardwood floors - it's not perfect but we haven't had any colour come off on our floor and the few chips appear to be from being thrown, dropped, smashed (as many boys will do) rather than from gnawing.
I scanned through the feedback and decided to take the time to contribute this review because I did not see anyone point out the geometrical attribute that corresponds to the number of pieces. This adds another dimension that is still of educational value to our preschooler. I think that this is pretty cool: - 5 pieces=pentagon; - 4 pieces=square; - 3 pieces=triangle; - 2 pieces=rectangle (yes it has four sides but of two different lengths); and, - 1 piece=circle... This is the ONLY toy my rottweiler has ever had that has survived his wrath! If you spend loads of money on the so called "durable" dog toys meant for "aggressive chewers" and the toy lasts 10 minutes, then THIS is the toy for your dog!! Dogs can chew forever on it without destroying a thing....highly recommended for "destructive dogs...!"

Indestructible no, but they do last longer then any other toys we have gotten. We bought all three, the Huck, Hurley and the Tux. The Tux is the only one that is left.
THIS ONE WAS HIS FAVORITE BUT IT DIDNT LAST LONG This might not be the case for your dog, it's not like it's poor or weak or anything, it's just that Milo really really chewed this toy like crazy. HE LOVED IT.
The Hurley (stick) lasted a few days as he was chewing on it for hours and hours and he simply LOVED IT. That was his favorite. He split it in the middle and we had to take it away only after a few days.
After splitting the Hurley, it didn't take him long to move onto the Huck. The Huck lasted a few WEEKS but then once he started getting into it, we had to take it away. Milo (1 year yellow lab) started getting it apart and then the rest came apart in chunks kinda fast. This did last WEEKS tho. Unfortunately it's just a little to heavy to... Read more

In my opinion and my dog, Dylan's, this is the only line of toys that are virtually indestructible. He has been chewing on the same pink bone for 6 years now and knows it by name. He LOVES it. Thats why we bought several more in the series.
